Description
Here is a rare CDV photograph of 1st Lieutenant Martin Bachman of Pennsylvania Independent Battery "I" also known as Nevin's Artillery. Taken by well-known Philadelphia photographer Frederick Gutekunst, it probably dates from 1863 when the Battery was formed around the time of the Battle of Gettysburg. Identified as Lt. Bachmann in ink at the bottom, he was the second in command and helped form the regiment at Philadelphia. Excellent condition and clarity, mat is trimmed at lower corners to fit into album.
