Disney Dollars 1987 Debut Day cancelled on card - First Day Issue - May 5, 1987
This cancelled Disney Dollar and the card it is attached to, has never been circulated. It is in excellent condition and has been kept in a dry, smoke-free environment.
Disneyland, Anaheim, California was the first Disney park to introduce a new form of currency on May 5, 1987 for use within the park. This rare and highly collectible cancelled card was produced on that date.
The cancellation is an official USPS cancel administered by an employee of the United States Postal Service. By law, the cancellation of a postage stamp can only occur on the date the stamp was submitted. This card utilizes that law to prove that these cards were indeed actually present on the day they were cancelled...May 5, 1987.
There were only 500 of these Debut Cards produced. And only 360 of those 500 were the version that is available in this auction.
This is just one of the many cancelled Disney Dollars in my collection. But the fact that this Disney Dollar cancellation was produced on the very 1st day that Disney Dollars were ever made available, makes this one of the rarest, and valuable, collectible Disney Dollars available.
