    Description

All original, not a reproduction, Civil War era cabinet size photograph. Housed in a correct Civil War period wooden oval frame. Looks like dark walnut or mahogany. These two pieces (the photo and frame) may have been together since the
Civil War or immediately sometime there after. Outside of frame measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches wide by half inch thick. Backing is really old heavy paper or paper board. Glass face. Soldier boy looks like he might be 12 to 14 years old. He is wearing a soldier Kepi hat, pants and coat looks like coarse wool civilian clothes from home, white crossed chest straps and matching belt (probably a flag rig). He is at attention holding a wooden flag pole with a Union or American flag. No I cannot or will not take the back apart to look for a photographer or or studio name. Needs a hanger on the back. No chips, cracks, and no major damage visible. Just light storage and use wear. If you think this is a reproduction, please do not bid or even email me. I have collected antiques for over 50 years and know the difference. See all photographs and details as there are no returns. Civil War photograph collectors often collect photos with flags, young soldiers, in period frames.
