    Description

Antique Ambrotype Civil War Copy to paper. The frame is 21”x27”. It is very old with some issues as you can see in photos. There’s a fantastic provenance with these items from the past. Look at the pic of the letter on the back. It is written and signed by Emily S. Maxwell. She is the wife of
    James R. Maxwell.
He is noted for his civil war letters home, as published by
    The Olive Tree Genealogy.
He enlisted in Grundy County and served in the 127th, Company D, Illinois Infantry. The most fascinating thing here is Emily’s letter. As Best as I could figure out it reads:
Sycamore, Dekalb, ___ Sept.1=1930. Emily S. Maxwell, I give this picture of James Richard Maxwell, ?? hus, ?? Father to hold, hus, ____Life. She will pass it to Mrs. Charles Holland. She must take care of it, keep it in the family, never let it go to strangers. Pass on to one ?? To one another
    Signed Emily S. Maxwell..
    You

an reference these items by searching The Olive Tree Genealogy, the photos of the genealogy, and look for James R. Maxwell, in the Civil War Archives. Keep in mind there was a James R. Maxwell. Who was in the Confederate Army. James Richard Maxwell, Company D, 127th Illinois Infantry. Please ask for more information and/or photos. Thank you in advance. Terry
