Very rare and original, 1860's Card Mount Salt Print Photograph of a young, Civil War 42nd Regiment, New York Militia Soldier wearing a wonderful plumed Shako with an 1858 Pattern, New York State Militia enlisted man's Shako Plate.
This very attractive,Card Mount Photo measures approx. 2 1/2” by 3 1/4" and is mounted on its original, square corner photographer’s card mount (size of card mount is 2 1/4” by 3 1/4”).
This very rare, 1860's Photograph is a 1/2 length, seated portrait of a young, New York Militiaman wearing a frock coat with shoulder scales and brass bar sleeve insignia. His plumed shako features an 1858 Pattern, New York State Militia enlisted man's Shako Plate with the number “42” above.
This wonderful, 1860's Salt Print Photo is in very good condition. The Photo exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich, warm tonality. The Image has some scattered spots of foxing in the background area and the card mount also has scattered foxing as can be seen in the scans below.
